Have You Heard of Brain Rot? How Excessive Consumption of Superficial Content Might Be Draining Your Mind

Scrolling through my feed the other day, I came across an article discussing the dangers of brain rot. Have you heard of this term? I must admit, I paused to read, and the reflection hit me hard: could the reason we feel increasingly exhausted have to do with how we’re spending our free time?

Brain rot — or the “deterioration of the brain” — happens when we consume extremely superficial, fast, and shallow content. You know those short videos that seem harmless? Or the endless hours spent scrolling mindlessly? The truth is, this overload of repetitive stimulation is draining our minds without us even realising it.

Instead of providing rest, our free time becomes yet another source of mental fatigue. Concentration wanes, creativity fades, and a growing sense of emptiness sets in. That’s why, even after a break, we still feel overwhelmed. It’s not always your job or your routine that’s leaving you exhausted — often, it’s those moments that should recharge your energy but end up doing the exact opposite.

That’s when I asked myself: what are we doing with our time?

At The Life Curators, we believe that rest goes far beyond “doing nothing.” It’s about embracing moments that truly matter, experiences that nourish your mind and bring lightness to your daily life.

While we take care of organising your routine and handling what distracts you, you can spend your time on what genuinely brings you fulfilment: an uninterrupted afternoon with loved ones, a good book, an inspiring trip, or simply the peace of not having to do it all.

Caring for your mind starts with valuing your time. After all, it’s time that shapes the life we choose to live. Have you stopped to think about this before?
